„Konavle Weavers“ (14 x 17.28 cm) is a smaller format painting depicting two women and a man in Konavle folk costume around a loom. It was most likely painted during Bukovac's last visit to Cavtat in 1920. At that time, Bukovac painted many similar genre scenes of Cavtat's life. Simirar to this one, most of them are small sketches in which the choice of themes and the ease of strokes are a complete refreshment in Bukovac's work. Unencumbered by the client or the public, the painter treated the canvas completely freely.
The painting was made using the oil on cardboard technique and is well preserved.
For the Museums and Galleries of Konavle, the Bukovac House, this painting is valuable not only as Bukovac's work, but also as a painting motif belonging to the corpus of Bukovac's native themes, which are of great importance for Cavtat. The painting will find the place in the Bukovac House in a permanent exhibition on the first floor, in the context of Vlaho Bukovac's home and family environment.

Weaving on horizontal looms is an activity that was not performed in every house in Konavle. Women and girls would prepare the yarn and take it to the people who did the weaving; in each village there were several weavers specializing in certain types of weaves. In Cavtat, however, a semi-professional weaving business had developed. In the attic of almost every house in Cavtat there was a loom where women would produce weaving for their clients. And the clients, of course, were residents of Konavle and Cavtat, all of whom needed clothing. Cavtat weavers produced linen for shirts, aprons, belts and waist wraps, bags and purses; everything people needed; using the yarn that their customers brought them. In his autobiography, Vlaho Bukovac recorded visits of Konavle women to his house, which also had a loom where his mother wove at night:
„The mother was weaving on the loom in the dim light. My father used oil lamp with four flames, but usually only two burned, because the oil was expensive… So she would put me on her lap, and I would lean against the loom, and watch how fast the shuttle runs from one side to the other. The load on the lap did not stop my mother from continuing to weave…
Usually on Sundays, Konavle women would come to look for woven pieces, woolen or cotton, and they would usually bring a so-called "snack", in addition to the agreed upon payment for weaving. For an elbow of the fabric, (measuring some 75 cm, used before adoption of meter) they would pay eight to ten coins, sometimes twelve.“
In the course of 20th century, Cavtat completely lost its weaving business. There are a few old Cavtat women who still remember the last Cavtat weavers. In his sketch „Konavle Weavers“, Vlaho Bukovac recorded a moment at work, most likely the preparation of the base yarn for weaving.
